Can someone please offer any advice?

My 96 polo 1.6 (multi point injection) is beginning to do my head in.

Problem only occurs when accelerating hard such as when joining motorway or overtaking.
The car lurches forward for about thirty seconds before it finaly sorts iteself out and is then fine. Doesn't happen everytime but most noticeable when revs hit about 2700 rpm and road speed is about 60 mph.

Checked the condition of the spark plugs and they are fine although some nobend had used insulation tape to repair a split in the end of one of the ht leads. Replaced the lead but problem still happening.

Could it be a blocked injector? or is it likely to be something else.

Need some advice as the only thing that I consider overtaking these days is a micra drivers and even then I have to think twice.

Any help would be much appreciated.

By the way tried some Redex but to no avail.

I would definately try some new plug leads - would recommend decent quality OE ones.

Could be a number of things tho (anything from coils to lambdas) so it would be good if you can get it plugged into VAG-COM to read the fault codes
