I had the same problem when I bought my Polo a few weeks ago. An electric mirror on the internet is about £65
I saw two for sale on ebay, one went for £29.
The problem is that they'll need painting as well. This increases the cost significantly.
If it's just the alloy stand inside the mirror that's cracked - they can be 'repaired'.
With care it is possible to use self-tapping screws drilled throuth the metal housing and into the plastic. The mirror assembly need removing from the door. I was able to find 4 places to drill through. The repair is invisible and cost pennies. Didn't have to remove the mirror glass either (which would have cracked)
