MK3 polo wheels?

i have a query about my MK3 polo CL coupe i just picked up...

First off, Hi all, this is my first post so apologies if its a bit off etc.

I was wondering about cross manufacture wheel fitments. At present i'm running on ganky 13's, and as my polo is *meant* to be a budget runaround i dont want to be spending big bucks on rims.

what other car manufacturers rims will fit my mk3, and has anyone else taken this route to good effect?

So far my 3 options have been
1, runnin my MR2's 15 inch ones, but i dont want to do this, as its my project car and i'll end up neglecting it for the polo

2, my mates BMW E30 14 inch wheels

3, a set of golf alloys if i can dig em up cheap enough.

Is there any other cheap alternatives i should consider?

Thanks all,
Tommy

Tommytank, welcome to the forum.

You're looking at 4x100 PCD, an offset around 38 and a centre bore of 57.1mm. Renault wheels fit, as do E30 BMW ones. Vauxhall, Rover, Mazda and Honda ones won't fit I'm afraid.

If it was me, I'd get the E30 wheels your mate has. Remember you'll need longer bolts and you'll find that your handling will differ as you're extending the track of the vehicle with the lower offset.
