help with ice pleaaase

I have 2 12" jbl subs and 2 jbl amps, my brother said to me because im running 2 amps of my battery the power will be split in 2 from the battery to the 2 amps and i wil have less power going to each amp and the subs wont perform as well?????as the power is being split up, i have no idea what hes on about and i want to know if its true?

and he said that there will only be a slight difference in bass if i have one of them or 2 of them?
please help???

I wouldn't have thought you'd have to worry about power loss too much, it's not as though they're mega powerful subs.

As for the difference between one or 2, I'm not too sure as I've only ever had one. But I'm guessing you'll know there's two in there.

will all depend on current draw.

you can get single amplifiers that will draw twice as much current as perhaps another three cheaper/smaller amps put together.

what models exactly are they? the JBL GTI subs draw some SERIOUS juice.

what the hell is he on about,if you have one battery and one power lead going to the boot how does it split itself!!!!!!

one power supply to boot,into fused distrubtion block 1,2,or 3 or even 4 the power draw will not split itself,will just drain battery quicker,hence why ppl who have 2 or more amps usually have split charging systems with extra batteries and power caps on amps for subs!

hope this clears the issue :shock:

No to power caps as well, they're mainly for show.

A lot of serious ICE Heads will say exactly the same.

hi i have 2 jbl gt1202 subs and 2 jbl 75.2 amps what do you reccomend i do to get the max out of them?
i havnt fitted them yet and thats when my borther told me that stuff!!!
What wireing kit should i go for (what gauge) and how about a power cap or 2?

go for the biggest u can,i have a two amp system,and i am using 2 gauge from battery to boot and then split down to 4 guage, kicker amp for subs and alpine amp for components ( which are factory fitted ) have got m5 diamond audio to fit when time avaiable.
like i have said before had big money systems for v long time and never thought too much bout caps,just had split charging system with uprated batteries and alternator which was just fine

power cap up to u if u want to use them only any good for real lows, not every day use

all they do is store power for when dropping the lows

there is a point everyone has missed here. There IS a theoretical maximum that any number of ampfliers could draw from a given electrical system. If you had two amplifiers that had a constant current draw of 150amps each and the car electrical system could only supply 200 amps at any one time then of course the power will be split in half between the two amps. How could an electrical system supply more power to an output device than it capable of generating???? :roll:

HOWEVER, the above is a hypothetical situation. In reality most amplifiers will not draw over 100 amps (if that) at any given point in time.

Power caps = USELESS. They often create more problems than they solve. In a system that pushes out anything more than 300 watts RMS they often simply dont hold enough current at a stable level for a long enough period of time before the next discharge begins.

Basically what it means is that once a cap has discharged, it has to recharge itself from the battery/alternator all while the system is still drawing current from the battery and alternator as well, this creates MORE strain on the battery rather than less.
