Help, bored of my GTi

Well, had my Gti nearly 2 years now and am starting to get bored with it. I know that for the price i ain't gonna find something with the same sort of spec as the Polo, but i think i need to get something different! I'm bored of the performance, looks, and driveabilty of the car. :(

I've always loved Lupo's but that means going smaller than my Polo and spending more money as i'd have to get the GTi.

Now if any of you guys, can persuade me to keep the Polo or think of any alternatives, that would be much appreciated.

Cheers, Mat

For the same level of equipment, luxury and a good old healthy dose of performance, you just have to look to the Audi S3. A lot of other users on this forum will probably say the same! I've never driven one myself but they are great looking machines with 225bhp and all the toys inc. xenons. The most logical "next step" I suppose.

The Lupo is very nice, and a rare sight just like the Polo.

As for any other alternatives, well other users who have moved on from the Polo GTi have bought Fabia vRSs, Golf GTIs, other Polos of various ages, a Passat...

Audi S3 or TT, or as Si says maybe a Golf GTi, Skoda Fabia vRS or even an Ibiza Cupra?

What have you done to your GTi in terms of mods mate?

I know what you mean though in terms of finding anything similar. If I had to change mine now, theres very little I could think of swapping it for. Only thing I could really want to change to would be a Mk5 Golf GTi, but then theres the slight issue of affording one

Ideally, if i had the funds, Audi S3 would be my top choice. However, i'm currently toying with the idea of starting a new career which would mean a pay decrease to start with! Ideally, i'd like to do a straight p/x for a new car if i decide to get rid!

Redline: as for the mods i've done, lowered on FK coilovers, B&M short shifter, BMC and then small mods such as 9N rear aero wiper, debadged polo and GTi badge, S2000 aerial, plus Pioneer head - unit and uprated front door speakers.

As previous posts say, S3 is the next step up or golf GTi mk5, but by the looks of things the Golf is gonna be pretty common and thats one thing I like about the polo GTi, its rare.

The spec of the polo is very high as you know, I think the interior design holds up today as new and funky as it did 5 years ago. I think the ibiza and fabia are a step sideways, probably better performance but the inside doesn't look nicer (you can't beat the dash at night).

Re-mortgage ur house and get an S3, u wont regret :)

£12,000 ish for a Audi S3 :D

Cant go wrong, will hold the value very well!

Yours gunna need the same performance as the GTi or better otherwise u will just be disapointed. A lupo GTi is nice but they are not alot different to the polo drive and speed wise, not really a decent upgrade. Will just feel like getting a bit more BHP from the polo, with alot less room!

After this months mods im guna save up for an S3, shouldnt take long :D.

Take a good Corrado VR6 for a test drive. You'll probably get hooked. Mind you I am biased  There are some good VR6 buys at the moment and depreciation shouldn't be too much of an issue. I brought my GTI for a daily commuter but it just isn't a patch on the Corrado or any other VW I've driven. The VR has sooooo much torque I can also get about 32 - 36 mpg mixed driving 8)

Cheers for the replies guys.

I've decided that i'm gonna keep the Polo for a bit longer, unless my financial situation changes. Hopefully she'll make me fall in love with her again and i'll get another 2 years of enjoyment! 8)

All the cars that you mentioned are quality cars, and i would consider them anytime! Just can't seem to bare parting with my lickle Polo. :)

hows about a leon cupra (180bhp), u can get one for around 5k now and they go like stink!!
better handling than a mk 4 golf gti, with an audi a3 interior and with vw running gear! 1.8t engine is very tunable, plus they look great IMO.
