Central Locking Fault in Hatch

The central locking works on all of my doors except the rear hatch/boot. Despite making sure that the lock is turned to the correct position it simply doesn't work. Can anyone suggest where I should start on the fault finding? My first thoughts were to see if there was any suction coming from the pump and look for a leak in the pipe, but I am a bit stumped after that. Thanks in advance, David
