How to rebuild drivers outside door handle parts

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a picture / good description of how the spring fits under the "excentric" part of the door handle.
It seems like whatever way I try the spring, after fitting the excentric, turning the key is either very stiff or very easy.
I was expecting the spring to pull the door key back to the vertical after locking/unlocking, but at best you have to turn the key back vertical, at worst the key wont turn at all.
The spring bends out at each end - so I was guessing those bends would point to say 8 oclock and maybe 4 oclock (handle vertical).
It seems as the only area where those "lugs" have room to go is where the lock is cut away a bit.
Also, do I need to twist (tension) the spring when installing it, or should I "just drop it in"
Any ideas - I need help and I dont wanna go to the dealer !
Thanks all for reading/helping.
Cheers
