Got a new Jetta this week......

My Polo's gone into the garage this week to give them a chance to (hopefully) sort out a few problems that I have been having with it.

Nice surprise was that my courtesy car is a new Jetta 1.9TDI SE.

Althought it feels a little underpowered, I'm quite impressed with it so far and the SE gives a nice level of standard spec. I haven't had time to take any pics but I will try to get some before it goes back later in the week. Feels much like a Golf to drive - not quite as nimble as the Polo. Overall feeling so far is that it's a bit conservative - think a more powerful engine would do wonders and generally transform the car. My neighbours have a new Passat Sport 2.0TDI and I reckon, given the small price differential, the Passat would be my choice over the Jetta.

If anyone wants to know anything else about it...... post here or PM me and I'll get back to you.

I think Clarkson killed this car off with his review in last Sunday's Times.

He pretty much succeeded with the Vectra - perhaps he's got too much influence?

He really did not like it.

Well I had the Jetta for 3 days and I think I must agree that it is pretty boring. It did nothing to offend me but it wouldn't exactly set you on fire!

As for my own car, they replaced the ICE so that it now plays MP3s and adjusted the tailgate so that it now closes without slamming. Apparently, my ESP/traction is functioning normally as are the brakes. The brakes are still rubbish but I am putting this down to the EBA which I think is taking away a lot of the pedal feel :(

I got them to switch on the autolocking feature and I really like it. You could program that on the MFD on the Jetta which was nice - shame they don't also offer it on the Polo.
