my car didnt start today, and it done the same last week so I put a new battery in it last week and went to start it again and nothing. But it started first time with a set of jump leads to my dads car.I have a sub and amp and my amp power light is always on even when my cd player isnt could this be draining my battery? I just bought an on off switch but dont know what to do with it. :?

It will be draining it yes mate. Ideally you want to wire the remote lead to the ignition, so when the ignition is turned off, the amp turns off as well.

It's usually a blue lead, but the manual should help you out on that.

I thought the amp remote cable went on to a blue and white cable at the back of my head unit? so if I put it on to the blue one thats the ignition one?

I'm not 100% but it should say in the H/U instruction manual, should have a diagram of what wires are what etc. Mine did anyway :?

hello
this seems to be a common problem on polos over the past couple of weeks, what i have done is use the electric ariel wire ( you'll have to check with h/u manual to see what colour) as this does the same job when you switch on head unit the ariel goes up and when off it goes down, hence this is also a switching wire
any more probs please come back

just read your post, erm is there a wiring diagram on top of your head unit to show the colours of the wires, on alpine the electric ariel wire is blue if this helps ( the remote wire is blue with white trace)

got it fixed! seems there was something wrong with my head unit. went to motorworld , the guy came out , e thought there was something up with the amp so he swaped my amp and bass box with a new one with the amp screwed onto the bass box, but still the same, so he swapped my panisonic mp3/wma player for the updated one and it worked! so I got new sub , amp and a new cd player. I gave him a tenner. happy days are here again
