Heat at the back of the car

well yesterday I had 2 friends sitting at the back for a 75 km ride...they told me that the boot was very hot....I tought it was the heat coming from the amp...but we check and it was normal....
We look everywhere and found that the heat was coming from the left side in the little space behind the left rear light...so hot!!!The exhaust (stock) is on this side....
do you have any idea where this heat can be from?
