Fuel economy and diesel noise

Got my car serviced yesterday, since then ive used the top quarter of the tank and got..... 60miles. Just wondered what every1 else is getting? (its a 1.4 8v)
Also, it still sounds like a diesel. Anyone else having the same problems?
