I know a lot of you on here probably aren't silly enough to fall for this as we are all internet whores  But some of your family might if they get it.

I read abut it the other day and have just got it sent to me, the e-mail is as follows
Scam E-Mail wrote:Dear Sir/Madam

Please note that your Barclays Online Account is about to expire. In order for it to remain active and avoid a temporal hold on your funds, we need you to update your personal information, this is also a new security statment to give our customers a better, fast and secure online banking service.
Please follow the link below and proceed to update your information:

http://www.barclays.co.uk/cgi-bin/accou ... 0,102.html

Thank you for your patience as we work together to protect your account.

Sincerely,
Barclays Bank Customer Service

*Important*
Please update your records on or before 48 hours, a failure to update your records will result in a temporal hold on your funds
Apparently the page that the link sends you to is exactly the same as the Barclays page, but the URL is different.

So look out for it and make sure your family do as well :)

Yeah, I get one every other day from CHASE(SOMETHING) saying exactly the same thing.
It wouldn't be so obvious if they didnt constantly send the emails out.
It's a dodgy world we live in.

i like the way a massive company like that, which deals with all walks of life, appears to be assuming all its online customers have the ability to check their email daily...
cuz hell, im broadband and sometimes it can be 3 days! (or more, on the work account, particularly over weekends of course)

scammers just dont think sometimes, after spending all the time cloning a site. still they work on people's headless panic, particularly the technophobes, to go and click before hitting that realisation. its a big enough problem that lloyds make a point of having big banners all over their service and their statements to the tune of "we will NEVER ask you for your password or any personal details over email". ----- so thanks for the heads up :)
