if you unpluged the air bag and the ingion was turned on the airbag light locks on as a system fault the only way to turn the light out is with VAGCOM or simlar diagonsitic systems. With the Air bag light on you car will not fail it MOT due to it.
other thing to try is disconect the battery for 20mins-30mins it might clear the fault code stored but only might.
Hope it helps

Cant see how the airbag light being on will fail the MOT test as im sure its not listed as testable. You might however get a notification that it needs sorting.
Why not just lift the module out of the dash and remove the wires before you put your car in for MOT?? Then replace the wires afterwards. As stated if the supply to the airbag is interuppted, even by a loose wire, a fault code is stored and the light stays on. You'll need VAG-COM to sort it - see if there are any independent VW mechs who will do it for you before approaching the 'stealers'
Good luck

My airbags doing this, just pull the plug out of the back of the light through the stereo hole  My MOT station knows the airbags failed but the have always put the car through, dont think its on the test.
