worrying juddering/battery light

pulled up to some traffic lights tonight and my car started juddering as soon as i put the clutch down, especially the gear stick which shakes loads, to be honest it's been doing that for a couple weeks and i've just got used to it now but my battery light started flashing faintly in time with the juddering this time.

this has worried me a lil bit, my car has done 63k and is a 1litre. i havn't had a chance to look at the car because i'm working odd hours at work at the mo, but any ideas would be apreciated and i'll look at it at the weekend. :)

seems to be running fine apart from that and it is getting annoying now, aswell as the fact that it's probably a sign of something worse. :?

Check your alternator output.

cheers omicron i'll check that at the weekend. but anyone know what's causing the shaking?

when i put even the slightest bit of gas on, it stops the shaking instantly, i had my carb adjusted a while back as the CO level was too high after the MOT, do ya think maybe it's set to let too little fuel through on idle? :?

Yeah sounds like it's probably running at about 400rpm, barely enough to keep from stalling :)

you reckon i could adjust the idle on the carb myself or would i need a mechanic to do it? bare in mind that i have no rev counter.

if it's litterally just turn the engine on, let it idle and then adjust until it stops shaking then i can handle that but i've got pretty limited knowledge if i have to start listening for little noises etc

Haynes manual should tell you what screw you need to adjust on the carb
