16v Throttle Body on an 8v

Does anyone know if a 16v throttle will fit an 8v? More to the point, if it did would there be any point? Are they any wider etc....

its the bit inbetween the intake manifold and the airbox. and has the throttle butterfly in side when you push the accellerator the butterfly moves allowing more or less air into the engine. ( short description "its hooked to the go peddle")

as for differences to teh 16v and 8v bodys its prolly about 5-10mm difference. but if you were to dewedge it then you would have more gains again. but i think the main advantage ( if they did fit that is) would be perkier throttle responce and freeier reving. no big power gains prolly 2-3bhp.

or thats how i belive it to work bstardchild will know more hes the engine guy round here.

Thanks, didnt think it would fit just wanted to make sure. What is this de-wedge mod that someone mentioned? Is it possible to enlarge the 16v throttle body and is there any point?

on the throttle butterfly there is a plastic or metal wedge riveted onto the butterfly that causes air turbulance and is supposed to give a smoother throttle responce at part throttles and stuff i dont know the exact physics. but a 1/2 and WOT its just unneccaccerry and slows down the air flow into the engine.

to Dewedge you just drill out the rivets leaveing 2 holes now you can rivet those holes up(safest option as you dont want things flying into the engine if they fall off. or you can solder the holes up ( can cause engine damage if they fall out. )

teh seccond picture is crap but you can see the size of the wedge that causes the problem .

Thanks for that warrmr, very helpful. Last time i played with my throttle body it messed up the revvs but hey messin around has some implications. If i get bored i might give it a try.

i must say that guide isnt mine it belongs to heysay on club polo so all credit must goto him.

its always reversable providling you keep the wedges you just rivet them back on.
