Gear Gaiter

Right spotted something annoying this morning.
The front couple of clips of teh thing that hold my gear gaiter in arent clipped in and i cant get it sorted.
i took it off and its beacause the leather surround covers the clips.
i took the gaiter off the plastic bit that clips in and tried to put it on again but it wont stay in the little lip at the top end so the top 2 clips wont clip in, its really annoying. any ideas?
