Went to clean TB on 6N 1.4 8v - theres like a ring of carbon around it so started to blast this whist tryin to rev the car...after constant blasts its sill dirty around the edges.....but now one prob! the car idles high and wen drivng gets stuch at 1500 revs then eventually drops to about 980 according to VAG-COM

Question...how do I clean TB correctly how do I remove it completely coz I think it needs cleaning from inside too. I can do a TB re-alignement with VAG-COM after so no probs there

Thanks

Oh nooooooo, so many of us have had this problem. In the best scenario (which was mine) you'll need a new 4-wire temperature sender available from the dealers for around £27. I really dont know why cleaning the throttle body causes this to die but i had the exact same symptoms as you. I ordered a VAG-COM guy out to my car and he found that this was the cause. In the worst case youll need to buy a new throttle body. I think the reason for the temp sender dying is cleaning the TB with the engine running. Once i replaced mine, the engine was fine; and i cleaned the TB with the engine off, started it up and still fine. Good luck.
