40k service….quick question?

My car has started telling me it needs a service, kind of scary as it only have one in December, so that’s 10k I have covered since!
What’s involved in the 40 service? How much does it usually cost?
Do you think I should take it to a vw specialist instead? Rather then paying stealer prices?
Many thanks,
Joe

The 40k service is a major one, sparkplugs are replaced and the airfilter. I paid £140 odd for it at a vw garage. I found in my area at least the vag specialists are the same price as the vw garage.

I thought it was a biggish one, cheers.
I will get it booked in for spark plugs & air filter (might get a bmc instead!

)
Do you think it's worth getting the cambelt etc done yet? 42k?

I have just had the 40k service carried out because of the age of the car (2000) , only has 32k miles on the clock.
With the brake fluid change and a few other bits around 300 quid at vag
However , I can say the improvement can be felt and is pulling better , 4k -8k rpm is very smooth.
