hi im new on here, been looking for a polo 16v for a while and i went to see one today at a garage, it was all good apart from:
-water in spare wheel bay (carpet only wet on the underside)
-water stains on the headlining. around the dip
-slight engine hesitation below 2500 rpm only with light acceleration. it doesnt do it when you boot it.

what could be causeing these things. i got a hose and sparayed round all the sunroof for ages and no water seemed to get in. could it be the ariel (is that easy to fix). and when do the cambelts need changing on the 1.4 16v's

thanks
mike

i live in jersey so there arent many 16v's over here. this one has done 45,000 miles and is in good condition (the odd scratch here or there). the motor is deffinatly up to it pulls like a train. revs beutifally easily faster then the 10 seconds to 60 that parkers say. it only does it ocasionaly and is difficult to actually try and get it to do it.
it rained over night and i cleaned the seal on the sunroof and the healing did not get wet. i think someone must of not shut it properly.

i bought it today, there just putting it onto the garage to have the rocker cover oil leak sorted and the rear abs sensors done. then it's mine.

do they really do 10 seconds to 60 cause it feels faster then that felt faster than my mates saxo vtr. it's all stadard but it makes a real nice noise kind of a bit raspy do they all make this noise or is me exhaust buggered. it is a bit rusty but it;s only suface rust i would say about 3% of the whole exhaust was rusty.

it's quite just sounds good just gonna leave it. wanna get it lowered but dunno if it will mess up the handling cause it handles really well at present.
and dunno what springs to get want it to be low enough to stop it looking like a tractor but not so low that it looks non standard, i like the standard look just getting some yoko a539's for grip.
dont think it's 8 feels more like 9.5ish.
also where can i get a 16v rear light it got one but the other is just a normal one cause it obviosly got smashed cause of the ding on the edge of the boot

the ding is just above the light on the corner, but it looks really od with 1 16v light and one standard light. might go for a set of clears (not lexus) cause it's navy blue so it might look good.
gonna lower iy 40mm i think with the standard rims as i want it to look standard ish.
