Hi all.

I'm gonna lose the standard sony head unit from my Mk4 polo. Does it remove with the usual headunit tool - square u shaped wire things on each end? Looked to be screwed in to me!

Also, is there some wire faffing to be had, and do I need an aeriel booster thingumy or can I just plug the current cable in?

Looking at this as is looks to be a good price and I dont want to spend a fortune.

thanks for the help..

Ah yeah. Righto. Had a look at the JVC one on car audio direct and its been replaced with a newer model than the one argos is selling. Looks good tho, but a little more than I wanted to spend.

Interestingly the next model up from that clarion one has some sort of internal storage, so you can load a cd and record it into the unit and play it back. Claims 3 hours storage at the lowest quality level and just over 2 hours at the highest.

Ive also been looking at some of the JVC ones with a USB port on the pront, although they seem to be a little pricey for adding this feature and I dont see why it would be better than just using CDs or re writable CDs.

Woah Momma! That was hard work.

Just fitted the sony unit - a doddle, but getting the old one out was satans own punishment.

Couldnt get the head unit to slide out and had to bend the chassis things back in to get the whole thing out as one. Managed to completed bugger the old unit has I had to take the front plastic off to do it and the release thingumy broke. Bummer.

New one in and was a nice tight fit so no more rattles so far. Speakers still sounding wheezy tho so thats gonna be next.
