Hi all,

i've gotten hold of a set of foglights for my 6n which i'd like to wire up so that they work with the driving lights (i'll use them more in this configuration than as foglights). can anyone give me some advice on how to do it?

managed to get the light units installed, it's just the wiring i need help with.

Just a guess here, but I should imagine you'll get a bit of hassle from the old bill.

really? when they're wired in so that they only work with main beam, not dipped beam?

You didn't say mainbeam in the first post

You should be alright if it's just main beam, my old 106 had them like that as standard so the Police should be ok, I thought you meant with your headlights.

anyone got any bright ideas on how to do this? come on, it can't be that hard!


ps, bright ideas - no pun intended

1.Find the main beam supply wire in the back of the headlight with a test bulb/multimeter, get a m8 tu turn it on and off to test for the wire. connect this wire to pin 86 on a relay

2.Connect a suitable wire to a ground point, connect this to pin 85 on the relay

3.Connect another suitable wire to the battery via a fuse and connect to pin 30 on the relay

4.Connect the fog supply wire to pin 87 on the relay and the ground the opposite wire end of the fogs to ground

Having them on with the main beam is fine legally, but the purpose of a foglight is to cast a low, wide beam, close in front of the car, so you won't really see any benefit.

bloody hell, someone who knows how to use front foglights!!!!!
pet hate of mine ppl drivin round with them on in daylight and nite time,thinking that it makes there car look cooooool! but we know they look like complete tossers
