THE Polo GTi Pedal Box Thread
My Clutch problem seems to be slightly different to all yours. My gear change is fine for the first 10-15 minutes of driving but then becomes more and more difficult.
Iceypolo: This Sachs clutch that you have had fitted to your GTi. Would you say it is well worth the £300 you payed for it. The other day i was in very heavy town traffic and my left leg was aching right bad.
I think i may have to invest in a new clutch before i lower it.

my clutch did exactly the same towards the last few weeks of driving, i could get reverse and first real easy when i started up but after a few mins if i got to a set of lights 9/10 i would have to set off in 2nd coz i couldn't select first!!M@Turner wrote:My Clutch problem seems to be slightly different to all yours. i thought it was the clutch cable stretching when it got hot due to the clutch being heavy for a long period so i had the cable replaced and it was jus the same....
its the best £300 i've spent coz it drives like a new car, plus i saved £250 off the dealer price!! when i got in the car afer they'd fitted it the clutch was lighter than the gas pedal!
do it! do it!

Hi guys, I have the same problems with you more or less. When tha car is cold for the forst kilometers everything is fine, When i ty to over rpm a gear or make a quick gear-change the pedal need great effort 1st is really hard to get and i can hear some noises when i change. 5000Km ago i ahd a new clucth cable which made a differance only for a while.
Here in Greece Gti's were not recalled.
So do you think ineed a new clucth.
The old one was valeo? The saschs one is better???
Can somebody tell me the exact code of tha part?

VW Customer Service - Followup from them
I have been contacted by VW Customer Service re the Pedal Box Recall.
I still have a clonking on my steering after all this. Anyway, I answered a VW customer service survey on Friday last - I told them exactly what I think and about all the problems you people (and me) have had with the Pedal Box recall and after.
I mentioned that we had all had our cars delivered back with something not as it was before going in... Anyway, my car is going in again on Monday to check the steering out again cos the Service Manager could feel there was a problem, but their three technicians did not find any problem after driving it last time for the MOT - Ahhhhhh!!!!
I mentioned also that someone on the forum reported a brake pedal failure after the recall (can't recall who). This they were concerned about.
I was wondering if you can all list your own issues with the post-pedal box replacement here-on, and I will take these up with VW customer service when they call me next week. Hopefully, we can all have these annoying problems resolved free of charge then and you can call them to get the dealer to rectify your problems once and for all.

My pedal box failed after the warrenty ran out and before the recall. I got quoted an extortionate prive by VW so I got it fitted elsewhere (couldn't afford to pay VW prices)
When it was recalled, VW promised to refund what I had paid to have it replaced. Yet because I had the work done elsewhere they wouldnt refund it.
So Im out of pocket because I refused to pay VW daylight robbery fees when it was a common fault anyway!!!
