Pics for those who had requested them, I fnally got the new wheels fitted. 15" Rondell 0058's. Improves on the standard look in my opinion.

Superb....I like a whole lot...they look like they were always on her...How much were they?....Do they last better than the BBS ones....I might sell up and buy a set myself.

As they are a one-peice alloy then yes, they would outlast the BBS if being used all year round :)

Thanks for your comments guys :) I wanted to keep the traditional look but update the alloys, and now they are on I actually think they look better than the BBS. They are a wee bit deeper and rounder. I always liked the look of the BBS but don't want to have to refurb every couple of years (planning to keep the car for a while).

The wheels cost me £320 for the set, fitted - though to be honest I wouldn't want to recommend the retailer to any of you. They weren't the best and have fitted the wheels without spiggots (which they assured me they had) - so I'm wobbling about until the spiggots are delivered.

I'd love to lower - not too much, maybe 30-40mm, but that's for another year.

Cheers guys

Shame they didn't live upto expectations - £320 is a great price, especially with named rubber and fitting!

Sorry mate - by fitting I mean that they switched the existing tyres over from BBS to Rondell. Still it seemed a decent price for 4 new alloys which retain (give or take) the standard look of the car.

A typical alloy wheel dealer really - some nice products but naff service - don't know but I can't imagine it's hugely legal to fit alloys without the spiggots - i'm going nice and slow at the moment but a bit concerned that I could be driving a death trap.

Nice choice of wheel, I think they look great on the Gti as a replacement to the BBS', whilst retaining the same look.

For others interested, a set of 4 can be had for around £250 from Germany: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %3AIT&rd=1
