Ive noticved after driving other non gti polo's that my brakes on the gti are absolutely rubbish and it seems only the outside 1cm of the disk is shiny although the pads are healthy!!! im playing with the idea of the g60 upgrade route but just wondered if there were any other possibly bigger upgrades avaliable (i.e tt brakes) although i know that the size of the bbs is a little restrictive... maybe it may have to be a g60 upgrade and new fluid if not!!!

The G60 brakes just fit under the standard rims, however the 310mm TT brakes can't be put on the GTi as they are 5 stud so would need the hubs changed to fit them. Folk have put them on Fabia vRSs just the same way as the Polo only the calipers carriers needs to be change you need 16" Rims min to fit them on even them depending on the design some don't fit I know the 16" BBS RX2s don't fit over them.
It sounds like your brakes might need a striped and clean down as the whole surface of the disc sound be shiny the Polo GTi brakes as standard are pretty good just the 280mm are better.

I think the brakes are pretty good tbh, as Dave said you may be best off getting them looked at if not that much of the face is shiny.

I find the brakes are pretty good. I have never gotten them so hot I experience brake fade, but I tend not to drive that hard.
