Oil Soaked Air Filter In POLO GTI... Help needed...

Can anyone tell me whether I have a terminal problem or what?

Car: Polo GTI 2000, Approx 73k, recent dealer service, just put new OEM plugs on to try & solve splutter (may need HT Leads yet - look in good condition).

Symtoms:

1. Air Filter soaked in oil from the return pipe off the engine
2. Bad Splutter / hesitation when driving. This usually appears when you need to pull away, and you're currently moving (no specific gear - usually all, but very spiradic)

uk-polos has much better feedback then any other site trust me....they have so many members....here its like a family thing...except when new comers come and dont appriciate it, sometimes you just have to wait for a reply but once you get it you will get a whole load, also what colour is the oil mate, seethrough or black? or pink...... (if its a new air filter it come swith pink oil on it to trap dust!)

Cheers for posting that PEDEY. your mate GTICCONCEPT seems to be experiencing the same as me!

I've still got this issue and I've had it to VW stealers who have told me they can't fix it coz they don't know what it could be. They said it's not bringing any fault codes up as it's too subtle!

They said take it to a tuning specialist to get it diagnosed! billed me for the pleasure and basically told me to f off!

The problem got really bad a week or so ago and I've just put a new CPS (Cam Shaft Position Sensor ) on which made no difference. I have now put HT Lead 1 on coz I saw it sparking outside of the collar onto the top of the engine one morning! It did stop the violence of the miss but there is still a miss there! Have ordered a full set of HT's but the problem continues.

I'll keep you and the team informed with any more updates with the hope you can help!!

Cheers

oh you still have the problem, mate i experienced this with my new car (when i posted i had a polo) my golfs oil breather was blocked, its like a kidney shaped thing on the back of the block, i dont know if your car has a oil breather but chances are it does and its a common problem, take it to a local mechanic and ask them if it has a breather, if it does and you can see it you might aswel change it your self, pry it off with a screwtriver, stick something into the hole it came out of to get the gunky oil out, and put adheisive on the new one position and hold iton, hey presto problem gone m8y
