Headunit Cutting out Help!

Post by WildChild »

Right here's my setup at the moment:

Sony 50W 4 Channel CDX-5000R Headunit
2x 180W (90W RMS) SPL Dynamics + Tweeters (crossovers) wired directly to one channel each (per speaker & tweeter)
2 x 150W (75W RMS) SPL Dynamics wired directly to one channel each

All Channels used up.

No Amp.

Basically when i go over a certain BASS Level, or i play a Bassy song (at standard EQ settings) the Headunit cuts power and reboots itself..

Now this happened with my last Headunit a Pioneer 30Wx4 DEH-890.. the sony is ALOT better as it has skip protection where as the Pioneer had NONE :D so i can go over bumps without cd's skipping for 20 seconds..

Anyway.. it only happens when it gets to bassy.. and as i said before this happened with the previous headunit.. now i've had it checked over by a mate who is a Porche mechanic and he says i've wired it perfectly. (didnt ask him bout this.. as hadnt come across problem)..

Do u reckon i need an amp to provide the speakers with more power? because every time i put bass on the lights every so slightly fade in and out on the headunit and then as ive said before once it gets too bassy it cuts out.. and restarts the headunit and starts to play the same track again..
