I was on a scrapy hunt the other day, and came across a 8v with fog lights has any one removed fogs from a car before? I was gonna transfer them to mine. Just wondering am i gonna be spending the majority of the day at the scrap yard removing them and is it easy enough to put into my car? I had a look in the haynes manual but doesnt even mention fog lights.

ok it's easy

1. Inner wheel arch plastic guards: remove the lowest screw that holds these on (it goes into the lower bumper). I think it's a star head, but i used an allen key.

2. Splitter: Remove the splitter. A handful of screws which are accessed from underneath the car.

3. Lower bumper: Remove the lower bumper in a similar way to the spitter. It will also have some plastic attachments which hold it to a plastic radiator surround.

4. Now the foglights will be exposed for you to remove them.

I'm not sure what the foglights themselves are attached with as I've retro-fitted mine. Haven't wired anything up yet though.

Any idea how much i should be paying for some fogs from a scrapy, £50?

I got mine for about 25 quid delivered from Ebay, used. But bear in mind these seem as rare as chicken teeth. I'm not really sure what they're worth to be honest.

Make sure to get all the wiring and the light switch from the dashboard (these cost silly money to buy new); it has another pull-out position for the front fogs. Unfortunately I have no idea what the rest of the wiring would constitute. I guess just pull out as much wiring as you can

Yeah they are rare, i was gobsmacked when i saw them. Must have.
When i get round to doing it i may make some sort of guide. I'll c.

I have enevr seen a polo with fogs. i demand pictures asap too see just how kool it looks. i was thinking of buysing some from halfords and trying to fit em into those gaps. I knew they were for fogs.

I think it looks good, it's quite a subtle improvement.

I got ahold of some rectangular Hella external fog lights, any ideas on how I could install/attach them on?
I was thinking the same/similar position as on Green Dragon's pic.

Ideally yes you will need the grill surround.
I just aquired all of mine from a scrap yard £20, fogs, grill, wiring, bargin.
Might fit them before i go away. I pluged them in and they work anyway. Cant wait, will put a nice touch on the car. Might upgrade the bulbs too.

if you buy the grill with foglight holes, you'll be relying on your fogs being the same size as the OEM design.

When i fitted mine last year, i bought everything i needed from VAGparts, the fogs, wiring, new grille and new headlight switch with controls for the front and rear fogs. The wiring iirc was fairly tricky to do, something to do with using an earth point in the engine, although i cant remember fully.
If you have the lights from the scrappy, make sure you get the different headlight adjust switch to, other wise you'll have your front and rear fogs on at the same time, whch no doubt will attract unwanted attention.

Just wondering are the 8v fogs the same as 16v ones? as there's a 16v with fogs on at my local scrappy.

Also do 6n2 fogs differ? I've not seen any.
