weird noise whilst ignition is on

All the time the ignition is on there is a weird alarm/buzzer like noise coming from the engine compartment. Opened the bonnet and removed the air filter and tried to trace where the noise is coming from, and it is definetly coming from the top rear of the engine or possibly from the back of the throttle body.
It sounds like a warning buzzer/horn, not that loud, just loud enough to hear from the drivers seat after the initial fuel pump priming whirring noise has finished, and as soon the engine starts the engine noise drowns it out.
At first I thought it may be the oil pressure warning buzzer, but the oil pressure warning light doesn't come on except at start up.
Anyone have any ideas what might be causing it or know of any electrical warning buzzers that are located on the rear of the engine block/ throttle body or surrounding areas.
It has been making this noise for a few months and the car is running fine so it is probbaly not that serious just b***** annoying.
Just wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar problem.
