OH MY!!

I love this car!

Picked up my Polo GTI yesterday!! It's great!! and I love the sound of the engine!!

Picked it up with full tank of petrol and have just done 300 miles already ha ha! petrol gauge just under 1/4 of a tank now - this is good no?

one thing - climate control doesn't seem to make the car really really cold, only slighty cold - is this just the best you can get out of it or could it be faulty? seemed colder this afternoon when I opened sunroof with air con off.

otherwise couldn't get enough of it - been driving around all day today buying lots of things to clean it with!!

Apart from that split up with the missus friday so car was welcome distraction! :(

:D

Good to hear you're enjoying the new car.

The A/C could be checked for fill level - if there's not enough coolant in the system, it can have a bit of trouble getting it ice cold. Apart from that, the system is dependent on your engine, meaning that if the engine is pushed (a lot) the A/C takes a back seat to keep the engine's temp down.

You've tried setting it all the way to cold? That should be its maximum performance level. If that's not cold enough, there could be something wrong.

Yea had the setting on LO and still didn't seem all that cold - even when driving sensibly - I actually felt colder when I got out of the car!! and the sun was shining!!!

will see about checking the levels.

cheers

That's not good enough... It should be freezing if it's on low for a long period of time. Have a specialist or the dealer check, unfortunately it's not a DIY jobbie.

Good luck and enjoy!

Cheers mate!

I need to take it to dealers in next couple of weeks to get some bumper scratches sorted (dealer I bought car off were supposed to sort this but did a rubbish job, so getting this fixed at my local dealer... free of charge of course) so will ask them to check the air con while it's there.

Judging by the good fuel economy you're getting, are you sure the air con is on, and that it's not running in 'ECON' mode?

Yea have tried it in auto mode with the setting on LO - left it on for 10 mins but still not much cooler - how long does it normally take to cool?

in the end, because I couldn't feel it working, I did just switch it off.

Mine gets VERY cold on LO (especially with the fan speed all the way up).

I can see my breath!

Anyway, I'm glad you like your car... It'll be much better fun than your ex! hehe

My word... 300 miles to a tank! Are you driving it or just rolling it down hills?

I get 250 max before the light comes on.... Hard B-Road driving. (infact recently I've only been getting 235 :( - Just bought some STP Fuel Injector Cleaner to try and flush her out).

Get the air con checked out mate.

Harry

What do you get to a tank? (I'm not interested in long Motorway miles... more like when you're ragging it)

those 300+ miles were a combination of motorway and B roads.... and was flooring it from pretty much every set of lights! ha ha gotta see what it can do haven't I? :D

MYPoloGTi... That's more like it!

What year is your GTi?

Well, I just filled up tonight and with a combination of motorway and fast b-road driving I managed 220 miles out of 32 litres (the tank is 45 litres and I usually get 250 miles out of 41 litres)... So a bit of motorway helps a great deal!

I stuck my STP Fuel Injector Cleaner in with the Optimax and so far the engine hasn't melted, so I'm just hoping it gives it all a decent flush out.
