hi peeps

i am currently looking at getting an ibiza cupra mk3 but....

which do i go for?

theres the cupra r producing 180bhp and the cupra producing 156bhp

iis the difference between the two a change in the ecu or is there more significant changes?

any help on this would be very much appreciated

cheers

hey there

firstly, welcome to the forum! i hope you find it very useful!

secondly, i think this link maybe of interest to you. if you read down it goes into the difference between the 150bhp, 180bhp and 225bhp engines which i think might help you a bit!

Someone might be able to help you out a bit more, but i think that'll be a good start for you!

Regards
Doug

The only change power wise is with the ECU as you have already said. The Cupra and Cupra R when chipped produce the same amount of bhp so there is really no gain when you buy an R and have it chipped.... Differences between the Cupra and the R are Brembo brakes on the front, Seat Sport OZ wheels, Wider Track on the back. 5mm Lower suspension, red seat belts, Seat sport trimmed seats and volt and oil temp meters in the centre console....

Seat Sport Suspension

If you are planning to modify then i'd go for a standard Cupra because all the benefits of buying the 'R' except the brakes you will want to uprate anyway.
