just changed changed my rocker cover gasket on my 1.4 8v.as i went to tighten the bolts on the rocker rover i broke one of the bolts, so half is stuck in hole. dont kno wat to do. im gonna take it to a local garage tomorro. do u think its going to cost me alot to get it drilled out? is it safe for me to drive the car with only two bolts holding the rocker cover.

two bolts will be sufficient for holding your rocker cover mate.
i had mine held on by one when i snapped one of mine! (The mkV 6N2 8v has only two anyway!)

they wont drill the bolt through, they have a special tool which u drill in2 the broken bolt an while its drillin in the bit loosens out, its like an anti-clockwise thing, it goes in clockwise an the threads on the bit are oppisite so it screws it out
the tool is called ''easy out'' shudnt cost much

i take it there's no bolt exposed for you to get hold of with a pair of pliers or mole grips?

They'll probably use an easy-out. you could probably pick one up from halfords or a local motor store, just drill a hole in the middle of the bolt and go from there.

Thanks for the advice lads, got it fixed this morning. Took the mechanic 10 min because some of the bolt was exposed. Shame the vw dealer isn’t as quick, have to wait till Wednesday till the new bolt comes in.
