i would personally always go for simoniz - back to black, just sprays on and if you do it about 3 days in a row it will look brand new, after that if you just spray it about once a month, should look fine (only takes 30 secs).
but then other people swear by autoglym bumper care, which i've tried and didn't rate it at all, coated it really patchy, took alot longer, i got it on a cut on my finger and it stung like hell and then it faded off after a couple days lol, so all in all didn't really get on with it

.
don't know what you mean by not costing "too" much but if you mean not spending anything at all, then you can use old engine oil or i've heard of people using shoe polish...i've never used either though so up to you matey
p.s this topic comes up alot so if you do a quick search, i'm sure you'll get some other ideas for what other people use

i have stuff from america that i put on my wheels called back to black, or black magic or something, but when i was selling my polo i had nothing left on the last day when he was coming to pick it up, and i though i would wash it a last time and put some make up on her....the bumpers looked a bit grey so i jus used brand new lawnmower oil and she was BEAUTIFUL, he came the next day in the morning and she still looked that good!!!
