An elderley neighbour of mine decided to sell up on her 1991 Polo Coupe. The car is mint, back seats have never been sat in, has only covered 54,965 miles and has a full VW service history. However, she does not know what sort of engine is in the car, it is only a four speed but she says she thinks it 1.3 and it says Catylyst [sp?] on the back. My dad drove it and said it was quite nippy. Would it be a 1.3 if it was a four-speed?
cheers

4 speed on a Mk3 normally means a 1 litre, but it could be either. Look on the logbook.

if you know the car's reg then you can use this search on the DVLA which should tell you what engine size it is

she couldn't find the logbook at the time. I don't think it's a 1.3 either.

Try to contact VW dealership, as you said the car has full VW service history. So they should give you some clues!
