Hi all,

I'm popping over from uk-mkivs for a bit of advice about a Polo.
A mate of mine had both his wing mirrors kicked of by a group of drunks recently ask was quoted over £300 for a new set. I was looking to source some for him and have found a set from a Mk4 ( which I believe his is ) but I'm not convinced they are the same.

His car is the same shape as this.

The mirrors came off this shape I think.

My question is are they both Mk4's, was there a facelift model? Most importantly will they fit, both are electric.

Thanks,

Paul.

your mates car is indeed a mk4 but the model below that is a mk6/7 the facelift of the mk4 was called either the mk5 or 6n2 as the mk4 is also known as the 6n. im not 100% on the mirrors though check if you can trial fit them or something.

hope this helps

they have completely different base-plates so won't fit unless you get some universal base-plates and modify them.
Even the 6n and 6n2 had different base-plates, but 6n's can be easily used for a 6n2 and the other way round (bit of trimming required)

OK, I'm thinking the mirrors I have are from a 6n2. Tried to use this to get the right model http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VW_Polo but it appears to be incorrect.

Going to trial fit them tonight so I should have a better idea of what is required.

Thanks for your advice and if anyone else wants to chip in or offer me the correct pair :D feel free.

Okay guy, thanks for your help yesterday.

Done a trial fit last night and got them on perfectly. Took them off to spray them but I noticed a small problem.

The plug from the mirror is different to the previous one so I'll have to cut the old plug off and use that but the wires are different colours. Any ideas where I could find a resource / wiring diagram that I could use to adapt them.

Cheers,
Paul.
