One of my friends is upgrading the engine in his mk5 Polo gti..
hes getting a 20v turbo lump for it. He as asked me if i would be interested in the gti engine out of it. just wondering, how hard would it be to do a engine swap with my mk4 1.3 l polo to a gti engine? and roughly how long would u expect my car to be off the road?

Someone either on here or CP did one himeself in 2 weekends I think.

I shouldn't think it's any where near as hard as a VR6/20vt conversion but they take quite a while. Maybe a month?

yeh man f**k it, get the gti engine in and have one of very very exclusive 6n gti's i was toying with the idea but i got bigger plans now, go for it! Depending on you doing it yourself or someone else doing, will take between 3 weeks and 3 months depending on how much bespoke stuff needs to be made up, but due to the gti engine being out of a car with the same chassis, engine mount points( unless they are different for a 16v i never looked into it) exhaust, gearbox etc... go for it!
