maybe its just the hot weather drying out all the moving components in that area? the weather has made a few areas of my car squeak more than usual!!
maybe WD40 might be in order but i'm sure there may be other alternatives?

I had a grinding noise a while back, turned out just to be a little stone or somethin got stuck in there somewhere...
I just kept turnin it til it fell out

On mine it was the wiper and slip ring in between the steering wheel and the column covers. A smear of copperslip has gradually made things quiet as the surface roughness has worn away. Rolo

check your steering fluid level, low level will cause ur pump to overwork and make a grinding noise, it's the same noise when you put your steering on full lock.
