Key code?

Hi does anyone know if the code number for Mk4 keys is located anywhere on the car pehaps the door lock barrels?
I bought my Polo secondhand and was missing the black plastic temp key and the tag containing the key codes.

Not sure what the temp key is?? But if ur looking to have a spare cut most places do them. We had a spare cut in cardiff with immobiliser code for around £20, vw wanted alot more!!

The temp key is a black all plastic key that is for temporary use.
From new there should be:
2 x keys with immobiliser chips inside
1 x Black plastic temporary key
1 x Keycode tag with the key no. for the keys and immobiliser code
£20 for a cut and coded key!
that's the bargain of the century. I've been quoted shed loads for that in the hundreds.

If you havent got the code go down to a VW main agent armed with proof of ownership etc and they should be able to look the code up on the computer. They may or may not charge you for this.
