If you go to the DIY section then it will tell you how to get rid of the flashing message, it worked first time for me. I did it the other day because mine was flashing and it was annoying me. Taking it for a service next week.

My advice would be to get it thouroughly serviced, 16v's can get very tempermental if ot looked after properly.

well ill have to do it all myself. im 17 and buying the car and insuring it has crippled me. so i can afford to send it to a garage.

just take it to kwik-fit or such like and ge tthem to change the oil/filter as its only £20 or so which is about the same as buying the filter and oil anyway

plus its less of a ballache

if we had a kwik fit in jersey (channel islands) i would take it there but we dont. so i would be looking at minimum of 50 pound labour and oil and a filter on top. and if i took it to the VW garage over here i would be looking at 90 pound an hour labour. not cheap.
