gearbox issues - help needed asap

my gearbox went again for the second time on friday! i only had it re-built 14000 miles ago. i was 2 and a half hours away from home on my way to newquay! anyways, i'm struggling to find a replacement 16v box. I have found from volkswagen that an 1400 8v box would fit but only one of the ones made. apparently is is one of the 1997 onward boxes. Can anyone help me?

I've got my old gearbox sitting in a wheel barrow in the garden at the moment, it was taken out last week with bearing troubles.
I'm in Essex, its yours for a drink, as I was going to take it apart myself to see what had gone wrong with it, but If I can help someone else out, then so be it.

1.4 8v box fits to 16v-AFH but ratios are different...

there was a fully re-built one on ebay last week, look on there in advanced search for items that have finished 10 days ago and you are sweet! new ones are like a grand! i'm getting mine re-built rite now as it bust last week, but get a 16v, so try ebay! type in polo gearbox, the dude was in colchester!
