What a bargain mate, well done! :D

As far as I am aware, the best method of smoothing the boot lid is to have a metal plate welded in where the number plate recess is, and where the rear VW badge is too if you want that off (although it might just be small enough for a simpler filler job). Finally same for the boot handle, this will need a plate welding in to fill the hole left behind by it's removal!

Then after the metal work it just needs a bit of filler to complete the smoothed boot, and of course paint!

I think thats the basics covered, now you just need a good bodyshop to do the work

you doing it yourself or getting someone else to do it?

Two key things to consider (there's probably more things but this is what i'd worry about most)
1) be carefull when welding as too much heat can cause the panel to warp
2) try to weld the plate as close to flush as possible to keep filler to a minimum

hope that come in handy

Hi, First post.

Anyway... the idea has inspired me to do the same. Only thing that is holding me back is the handle.

HOW do you open the boot??

and if its going to be made electrical?? isnt that going to cost a fair bit??

also has anyone got a picture of what it looks like if you just smoothe the numberplate part and the v.w part??

yeah you need a solenoid to pop it after youv smoothed it.one of the vauxhall websites is doing them for like a tenner. just make sure you fit it before you shut the boot.(doh) yeah anymore pics of the brown car????
