Sat Nav Combi Arieal

Hey all,
....So I'm still waiting for my Polo to arrive (let down again by my dealer) and I'm getting bits together so when it turns up I can get started. Got a really tech and boring question, but if any1 can help it would be great.
I'm getting an Alpine sat nav system for the car. I have seen that on factory fit Polo Nav system the roof arieal has a round type base that is also the GPS arieal. I have been into my dealer and spoken to the parts guys who can get the unit for me. Its called Combi arieal(?) so it will recieve radio/RDS signals and the GPS for NAV. The one thing that no-one can seem to answer though is if the connection from the GPS part is a standard fitment or specific to VW Nav systems. The garage offered to order one for me in to see if its compatabele, as long as I paid up front for it, but if it was VW specific and not compatable with after market Sat Nav it could not be refunded - GREAT! So any1 know if I could use the VW combi thingy with Alpine Sat Nav unit?
On completely different matter, I ordered a part from VAG Parts, everyone I spoke to there was fantastic and were able to track down a strange part I was after. The part arrived quicker than expected and I was a happy man. Unfortunately I did not sign for this part - someone else at work did. When I opened the package up I noticed that the part - which was fragile - had been damaged in transit by Royal Mail. I rang Martin straight away and told him, unfortunately he said because it was signed for there was no way of getting compensation out of Royal Mail to replace it. ......Well ok he said those (lots of swear words) are always damaging our stuff but the small print is a nightmare with RM and basically if someone has signed they have no come back. Long story short with out hesitation he told me he would order me a replacement part and send it to me at no cost to myself. I was well chuffed
End of day he could have told me unlucky, but not his problem. Just wanted to share that with everyone BIG RESPECT TO VAG PARTS REALLY HAPPY CUSTOMER HERE
