hey folks hows it goin... got a problem with me polo, its booked in at the VW dealer on tuesday so see what they say, but basically everytime it start it it revs up and then drops and cuts out, you used to be able to prevent it from cutting out by putting your foot on the accelorator(sp) a bit, but now even if you put your foot on the pedal it still cuts out even if you keep your foot there (?), so i dunno. bit weird. :(

Ooh... Common problem.

Try ->

Temp sensor(s)
TB cleaning

or whatever the dealer can read out of the car's electronics.

okay.... just got a call from the VW dealer, supposidly they pluged it in and its reporting a fault with my key, and they say that this is why it isn't starting correctly.... so they are going to order me another key. Didn't see that one coming.... ??

That's odd.

If you have the new key, try it right there and then - if it hasn't solved the problem, don't accept the bill...

I had a problem like that with my Mk3 Golf.

I would turn the key and it would cut out.
The problem was not the key but the reader coil that
fits around the ignition that reads the keys signal.

This is a common fault on Mk3s so I guess its a problem
with the Polo too. The part itself is only a few quid but is a b***h to fit.

Hope this helps!

Now you mention that - that happened on my car. but the car wouldnt start at all, just turn the key and nothing happened. took it to the dealers and they replaced the whole barrel (and gave me a lecture cause i removed the airbag wheel to fit my momo one  ) and its worked fine ever since....

i don't know if its just me, but the VW dealer up here just seems to look at something and the first thing they come to thats wrong, they'll assume its that and replace it, then find out later on that its something else.... happend last year when my power steering imploded....

..well got me car back, problem seems to be sorted, although my car came back from the VW dealer minus the rear-wiper cap that covers the nut, so it looks bare... probably give em a call... :(

That's odd. Less bits than when you brought it?!

Anyway, good to see it worked.
