Got my new GTI the other week and im well pleased with it. Bin driving a 1.0L Lupo for 3 years, but now i can afford the car and insurance i thought why not! Big difference in everything really. Spot on.

I require some roof bars as i surf and need to get my 2 boards to the coast. I bought the car thinking i could get roof bars from the dealer as i did with the Lupo, when i asked they said they dont sell them for this model due to them causing water leaks, I take it they meant for all the polo range as I cant find them on V.W accessories web site.
Does any one have any bars, if so where from?
I found some from Thule but they say "05" onward for the model year I dont know if these will fit, any one know any different?

Also ICE? Has any one changed there head unit. As the standard one is twice the size what options do I have for changing it, with regards to the big open space in the dash, can i get a cubby hole to fit?

not sure about the roof bars but if veedub don't do em then u may be outta luck!! most of the non vw ones are not up to a high standard or thats what i've been told!!

as for the stereo, u may need to upload pics but it sounds like u have a double din headunit!!
if u wanted to put a single din after market one in there, u should be able to buy a box that fits in the gap that is left! u can get these from vw or maybe even ebay or u may be lucky with people on here that may be selling some??

Going to get the standard unit out tomorrow and see whats behind it.
As for the roof bars im not sure what to do, the back windows have the little triangles on them for the bar clamp position as do the fronts so im thinking that they are available just dont want to buy the wrong ones. Ive heard that thule are a good make ill have to see if i can find any where where i can try before i buy.
