Looking to tidy up my engine bay. Want to add a strut bar, BMC air filter, some polished bits and chrome up some of the metal work. Im going to start on the metal work on the engine itself. Can anyone tell me who would be able to polish these bits up and roughly how much it would cost?

Cheers

Its the stuff you use for ur tyres.....and dont worry I have checked it out and was told it was ok. Nothing will be igniting it.

Update : Its Turtle Wax's Wet 'n' Black.

back to black is silicon based and remains sort of tacky so dirt clings to it like a mofo

To polish up the rocker cover, start with something like 250 grit wet paper, followed by 400 wet, then 600wet, 1000 wet, 1200 wet followed by either autosol or brasso but you'll need lots of it. A dremel or similar will make the polishing loads easier but the sanding you'll still have to work hard on.

Bits that arn't so textured ie the heatshield, start with 1200 wet then autosol.

You could take em to be professionally pollished, a guy down here charges about £50 for a rocker cover and prob £20 for the heatshield. While your at it get the alternator done, this guy near me only charges £20
