well yea, lol, but dnt think like that, just drive it slow an dnt horse it on up the gears, just drive it easy 2 the garage, but if ur really worried then get sum1 out 2 have a look at the rattle an they cud tell u whether u cud drive it 2 the garage or mabye it might have 2 get lifted

take off the cambelt cover and have a look at the belt. Any gouges, scratches or other damage to it?

If not i think i'd take the risk and drive it carefully to the garage.

had a look today, on the belt i spotted 2 niks. before the belt goes over the first of the 2 big top cogs it is loose. do you think the rac will take it to my garage for me??

yeah you need a new cambelt, tensioner and pulley then mate. The parts are cheap but labours quite big so expect a £100+ bill. If i were you i would either ask the garage to pick it up or get a mate with a tow rope to pull you there if the routes quite simple.

BEWARE though there is minimal brakes and steering with the engine off.

Oh if your cambelt snaps the valves and pistons go out of allignment and you'll need an engine rebuild, so i'd get it taken there even if you dont have to get RAC

Glad to hear that, well done for spotting the warning signs and having the brains to check it out!
