6n polodash light but no crank

hi guys i have got a 99v polo and last night after a short journey i switch car off and when i returned to start the car i got dash lights but no crank do you have any ideas what could be the prob

if the battery is ok then its probably the ignition switch. Put sidewards pressure on the key when you turn it, this sometimes gets a connection in an emergency.
Check the wiring to the starter motor too as the main possitive lead used to break off before the connector.
