Biggest Engine

Just out of interest but whats the biggest engine i can cram into my little mk3 without hacking bits of the chassis away? g40 is obvious, what bout g60 or even vr6 can they be shoehorned in? or a 20v 1.8?

hey, ive seen a video of a g60 engine in a mark 3 and also i saw a dutch site with a 20v turbo in a mark 3 in the front of the car and also one with an engine at the back on ebay - went for 8 grand lol

20vt engine in the rear of a mk3 polo was a beast, also rear wheel drive, saw a vid of it in action once, and it was a rite handful!!

Anything other than a small block engine will involve lots of work and some cutting, so forget 8 or 16v Golf GTi engines and certainly the VR6.
G40 will offer you the easiest power, but with a lot of wiring fuss the small block 1.4 and 1.6 16v engines from the later Polos and Lupo can be made to work.
Biggest engine in a Mk3 without cutting is a 1.6 16v then...

rekon it'll get g40'd then eventually if i fancy a sleeper!
