TS - H1703 Tweeters

Hi,
Just got a set of these, the ones in the doors went in fine though the tweeters look a lot more difficult. Has anybody modified the original mounting brackets to take the 1703's. If so, please can you tell me how to.
The instructions look like Pioneer recommend that you either mount these on top or indeed on the door though I would rather use the original spaces.
Looking at the wiring, can you buy an adaptor plug that will fit in the original VW conector (for the tweeters) too the new wiring, if so were do you get these from. I do not want to cut the original conectors off.
Any help would be appreciated.
