Strange problem
Strange problem
I was driving my 6n 16v along and randomly the Abs light comes on and my stereo cuts out. The only thing i can think of that may be linked is that wiring to the stereo is a bit bodged. I say bodged this is because the previous owner cut the connector block off and put bullet conectors on. I fixed the problem by wiring a new block on using choc block so this should not be a real problem as it is all conected properly. The abs light will come on then switch off and the stereo will come back on. I have checked and changed the fuses and they are fine. If any one has an idea of what it could be please post as I am stumped.
Do both play up at the same time ?
I guess they do, in which case I'd suggest a bad earth somehwere, although I'd say the ABS & Stereo earths are in different locations.
If not, then most ABS faults are caused by a wheel sensor failure, usually a front one and usually the cable not the sensor.
Can you contact someone with vagcom (at lot of us on the UKMKIV's forum have vagcom and have a vagcom / users / location thread). It will pin point where the problem is.
