Just got an M reg polo and the ice is shaping up to be a right b1tch!

The front speakers have a tweeter in the dash upon a quick inspection I think, so how the feck do I put my own comps in? I have got it all ready and waiting to go in from my last car but it looks to be a right challenge this...

2ndly, is there anywhere on the bulkhead that a 4awg cable can go through?

its easy really, take out the standard tweeters and mount ur ones in their place using a piece of mdf, brackets or wotever u feel works best

as 4 the cable, use an existing grommet and widen it a little

& what have people done regarding wiring?

I don't want to cut the wires and so I am searching for a connector block, any clue on prices for these?

How do the grills remove from the speakers in the door & dash?

Just a newb t VW

The grills will lever off with a screwdriver - be careful!

I would cut the wires and solder them, you can always resolder them later on. I fed a power wire through my bulkhead yesterday - if you go to the passenger side footwell, peel back the trim and carpet and get a torch, look up and towards the front of the car and you will see 2 cables at about knee height coming through the bulkhead, this is where I fed mine through. It's an easy grommit to do but is a bit of a pain to feed through from the engine bay - stick a screwdriver through from inside the car to help you. It's about 12 inches below where the washer bottle sits in the engine bay.

The best way to get the amp wire to the boot is to peel the door seals off and feed the wire down the gap in the sill. then pass it behind the trim after the b-post (wedge the trim open with something, and you can actually feed the wire down behind the trim quite easily). On my 3-door model it can be pulled back out of the trim where the slot for the seatbelt is (near the floor), and then just put it under the seat. 5 door models will be different!

Same on the opposite side for the RCA cable, but feed it through the wires under the dash and it can be passed right up to the stereo - there's a huge gap for it. It takes about an hour to do them both properly.

Hope this helps, I'm waiting for my stereo to arrive so I got all my stuff in yeaterday. come on citylink, do your stuff (and don't nick it this time)!

Have fun
